The fascinating world of Walt Disney

Walt Disney is a unique American animator, director, actor, screenwriter and producer, creator of a series of full-length cartoons that brought him worldwide fame. The father of Mickey Mouse, the rabbit Oswald, Donald Duck and more than 200 characters that children around the world love.
Since childhood, Walt was fond of drawing comics, cartoons and various funny stories. And therefore it is not surprising that when he entered the Chicago Institute of the Arts to study as an actor, he suddenly became interested in animation. Having organized the animated studio Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio with his brother Roy, he began a period of hard work, constant financial difficulties and a constant struggle to uphold copyright.

The first cartoon of the Disney brothers was the film “Alice in Wonderland”, released in 1923. It was about an ordinary person who fell into the world of animation. The popularity of the film exceeded all expectations. After receiving the fee, the brothers changed their name to a more concise one – the Walt Disney Company.

Meanwhile, in the cinema, the era of sound cinema began, dumb cartoons came to an end, and therefore it was necessary to move in step with the times. The first animated character who spoke from the screen with the voice of Walt Disney himself was Mickey Mouse, who soon became one of the symbols of America itself. After Mickey Mouse, such short films as “Skeleton Dance”, “Three Little Pigs” and “Funny Symphonies” appeared, which introduced the viewer to completely new characters – Pluto, Goofy and Donald Duck. In 1937, the first feature-length film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was released, and then the first color cartoon “Concert” was released.

Walt Disney independently performed the role of screenwriter, director and producer. It was he who introduced the bonus of multipliers for each idea proposed to the company’s management.

In the early 1950s, Disney gained its popularity and more and more people became interested in the process of creating animated paintings. At this time, Walt got the idea to create a fascinating amusement park in which all the cartoon characters would come to life. The $ 17 million invested in the construction of the park paid off in just a couple of years, and five years after Disneyland opened, the income from it already exceeded the income from the entire film industry of the company.

Disney Walt Disney passed away in 1966, and after the death of Roy in 1971, hard times came for the Disney movie studio. For several years, the film studio only from the income of an amusement park. Until 1984, not a single famous film was released.

in 1984, Texas oil tycoons, the Bass family, bought back part of the stock and appointed Frank Wells, the former vice chairman of Warner Brothers, and Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenburg of Paramount to the company. Thanks to their efforts, the Disney Magical World show was created and their own cable channel, The Disney Channel, was launched. Such famous cartoons as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and The Lion King came out during these years.

Today, the Walt Disney Company continues to grow rapidly. The company owns branded stores around the world, periodicals, hockey and baseball teams. In addition to Disneyland, New Orleans also has similar amusement parks in France, Japan and China. The company’s annual turnover is $ 21 billion.
